We had a very fun club meeting last Friday. We planned what the club wants to do for the upcoming season and we organized our current projects, so we can all get on track.
The summer months here in the desert heat are always a good time to get projects organized, started, or as the pictures show finished. (or close to it)
Janyce pieced two quilts:
The signature squares we swapped
into this "cot" quilt.
And this great scrap quilt using only
2 1/2" x 4" rectangles.

Elaine took an embroidery class on her Bernina & made up this fun and functional steering wheel cover. This is an absolute necessity for our Arizona summer.
Everyone in the club is hoping for one!
Jeanne has been having fun English Paper Piecing. This time she used 1 1/2" finished hexagons for this bright table topper.
I shared our 3/4" Hexagons from our Accu-cut Cutter.
Jeanne bought a pack & I know we will be seeing a project finished using those 3/4" hexagons.
Marty shared her charm pack/prairie point table runner.
Those are such warm cozy colors.

Carol was busy completing these two projects that she is giving as gifts. The butterfly quilt is in celebration of her friends 5th anniversary of being cancer FREE!
This paper pieced Hummingbird wall hanging is for another friend who loves Hummingbirds.
We know her friends are going to love these gifts.
Sharon took the Sew Sausalito bag class on Thursday & brought her completed bag to share it with us. She really jumped out of her box using these beautiful batiks. Sharon is a tried and true lover of 19th century reproduction fabrics. Fantastic job!!
One of the club projects is Aunt Maggie's Patchwork Quilt by Lori Smith.
Judy brought her completed quilt top in to share with us.
There were lots of oohs & aahs from all of us.
The quilt top is now at the quilter's. We all expect to see this quilt again once it's totally finished.
The group has decided to have an Aunt Maggie's show n tell. Now we just have to set the official date so everyone gets their project completed.
Sue has been very busy piecing and quilting.
She made these cute little wall hangings for a friend.

Sue and her family are expecting a
great granddaughter. Congrats to the whole family.
What baby ever gets just one quilt?
Especially from a great grandma that's as prolific quilter as Sue is.
Sue has been working on the Mary Mannakee quilt for the past 15 months. This is a beautiful needle-turned applique quilt in reds, greens and white.
Sue is now working on the borders that have appliqued leaves, stems, and berries around the entire quilt center.

This is also stunning. The soft pastel colors are perfect for those large floral blocks. The picture to the right is a close-up of the beautiful quilting Sue did.
We all think this one should be in the 2013 Arizona Quilter's Guild Quilt Show.
Yes not only does she piece these beautiful quilt tops, she custom quilts all of them too!
She is one talented lady.
The Civil War Club members have very busy. Thanks to all of you for sharing.
